Jules Zhao Liu is an associate professor in the School of Sociology and Anthropology, Sun Yat-Sen University. An interdisciplinary scholar, he received his PhD degree from the University of Hong Kong. He was a visiting fellow at the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales in 2016–17 and a Harvard-Yenching Fellow in 2017–18. His research is situated at the intersection of anthropology, sociology, and history. He is dedicated to bridging the gaps between different disciplines and establishing dialogues between scholars from the humanities and social sciences.

Current Research Projects: The sociopolitical network of the Lingnan School of Painting in the Greater Bay Area; Rhizome and Resilience: Statebuilding and Popular Religion in the 20th century China.
