Liu Guoxiang is an ethnic Mongolian.  He obtained his degrees from the Department of Archaeology, Peking University, and from the Graduate School of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.  He now serves as the team leader of the first archaeological working team for Inner Mongolia, the Institute of Archaeology, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.  His research interests cover the Chinese prehistoric jades, bronzes of the steppe region and prehistoric cultural contacts and exchanges in northeastern Asia.  He has been invited to Japan, Russia, South Korea for cooperative excavation or research.  His work, Essays on the Northeastern Cultural Relics and Archaeology, was published by Science Press of China in 2004.
