Chiang Chih-Hua
江芝華

Chiang Chih-Hua is an Associate Professor in the Department of Anthropology, National Taiwan University. She received her Ph.D. from the Department of Anthropology, University of California, Berkeley. Dr. Chiang has two main research focuses. First, she has been researching on exploring the human-environment interactions in the early societies, specifically focusing on Neolithic Northern Taiwan. Second, she has been working with the Atayal and Paiwan communities, two Taiwanese indigenous societies, to search for alternative ways to reclaim and reconnect with their ancestral landscapes. In addition to academic research, she has been advocating the practice of community archaeology and actively promoting the archaeological ways of knowing to the general public. At the Harvard-Yenching Institute, she will continue her research on tracing the processes of forgetting and remembering of the ancestral pots in the contemporary indigenous Paiwan community and how that can inspire archaeologists to reflect on the entanglements between material objects, memory and social relations through time.
