Yu Dong is a professor at the Institute of Cultural Heritage, Shandong University, China. She got her PhD from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2013, and she has joined the faculty of Shandong University since then. Dr. Dong is interested in the development of social complexities and gender archaeology, especially in the Neolithic and Bronze Age of China. She uses the tool of stable isotopes to serve several aims: 1. to investigate the expressions of social identities from the perspective food consumption; 2. to study farming techniques and live stock management strategies; 3. to identify migrants during the process of early urbanizations. Dr. Dong has published over 20 peer reviewed journal articles in English and Chinese, including journals of PNAS, Antiquity, American Journal of Physical Anthropology, Frontiers in Plant Science, The Holocene, Kaogu, and many others.
