HYI Scholar Eiko Kawamura awarded Prize in Classical Japanese Literary Scholarship

Eiko Kawamura (Visiting Scholar, 2024-25) was awarded the 17th “Prize in Classical Japanese Literary Scholarship 日本古典文学学術賞” on November 2, 2024. The prize was awarded by the National Institute of Japanese Literature Support Association 国文学研究資料館賛助会 for her monograph Kohaikai Research 古俳諧研究 (Osaka: Izumi Shoin, 2023). This book presents comprehensive research on the literary and cultural history of popular linked verse prior to the mid-1680s, known as kohaikai 古俳諧. It comprises 14 chapters, including a chronological table of kohaikai books with explanations and index.
