AAS Annual Meeting Grant for HYI Alumni

AAS Annual Meeting Grant for HYI Alumni

Overview

Every year in the spring, the Association for Asian Studies (AAS) holds its annual four-day conference devoted to planned programs of scholarly papers, round table discussions and panel sessions on a wide range of issues in research and teaching, and on Asian affairs in general. The conference is one of the most important annual scholarly events in Asian Studies. As the Harvard-Yenching Institute's (HYI) alumni, you are encouraged to attend the AAS Meeting. The HYI will host a reception at the Meeting, to which you are warmly welcome. The reception will be an excellent opportunity for meeting other scholars in your field as well as learning about new programs and opportunities at HYI.

Terms and Conditions

There are currently 25 fellowship grants available. Scholars based in Asia and traveling from Asia to attend the AAS may apply for this opportunity once every two years. Please note this funding should be used only by those scholars without other means of travel support from either their home institutions or the AAS. Selection of grantees will be on a first-come, first served basis. The HYI will reimburse travel expenses related to attending the conference up to $1,000 if you present a paper which has been accepted by the AAS program committee as part of the official annual meeting. You should submit proposals for organized panels (or individual papers) directly to the AAS.

Application Process

Once you have received written notification from the AAS that your paper/panel has been accepted by the official AAS program committee, submit that notification letter to:
