The 2016 HYI roundtable on "Asian Archaeology: Recent Discoveries and Controversies" was held on March 28, 2016. Panelists were Parth R. Chauhan, Piphal Heng, Nayanjot Lahiri, Yangjin Pak, Ken’ichi Sasaki, and Xiaoying Zha, with Rowan Flad as moderator. 

Former HYI scholars and fellows met in Taipei on Wednesday, October 14. Four alumni (Lin Wei-ping, Lin Li-yueh, Lei Hsiang-lin, and Chang Wen-chin) briefly presented on their recent publications, follwed by dinner with over 40 Taiwan-based alumni.

On March 27, 2015 the Harvard-Yenching Institute held a reception at the annual meeting of the Association of Asian Studies in Chicago, IL.

On February 20, 2015 the Harvard-Yenching Institute held a gathering for its Tokyo-based alumni at the Toyo Bunko Cafe, Tokyo, Japan. 

On October 20, 2014, a "Sanlian-HYI Academic Publishing Forum" (三联•哈佛燕京学术出版论坛) was held in Beijing, co-sponsored by Sanlian Shudian (三联书店) and the Harvard-Yenching Institute. The forum celebrated the 20th anniversary of the HYI-Sanlian Book Series.

On September 18, 2014, the Harvard-Yenching Institute held its fall opening reception to welcome this year's new visiting scholars and fellows at the Harvard Faculty Club.

New visiting scholars and fellows met at Henrietta's Table on September 3 for lunch with Director Elizabeth Perry and the HYI staff.

On September 12, 2014, friends, family and students of Patrick Hanan will gather for a ceremony of remembrance and celebration. People who cannot attend, in particular, but also those who can, are invited to submit reminiscences. The Harvard-Yenching Institute held an Urban Studies Training Program in June 2010, June 2013 and June 2014. The programs were co-sponsored with East China Normal University, the Hong Kong Institute for the Humanities and Social Sciences, and New York University. The programs were held in Shanghai and Hong Kong. Details about the June 2013 and June 2014 programs are available on our website. The photos below are from the 2010 and 2013 training programs.

The 2014 HYI roundtable, on "Civil Society in East Asia," was held on March 25, 2014. Panelists were Profs. Marshall Ganz, Gao Bingzhong, Jeong Jong-ho, Kage Rieko, with Prof. Elizabeth Perry as moderator. Video from the event is available here
