Dang Thi Viet Phuong is a research fellow at the Institute of Sociology, Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences. She was trained at Aix-Marseille University and obtained her PhD in sociology from Senshu University. Her fields of interest include the civic sector, social welfare and rural development. She is particularly interested in state-civil society relations. Over the last 25 years, Phuong has been involved in various international and domestic research projects exploring the different aspects of civil society in Vietnam.
