Guo Yi is currently a professor in the Department of Philosophy, Seoul National University; vice Chair of the Academic Committee, International Confucian Association; and guest professor at the School of Philosophy, Renmin University of China. After receiving his Ph.D. from Fudan University in Chinese philosophy (1993), Guo Yi was appointed as assistant professor (1993-1996), associate professor (1996-2003), and full professor (2003-2012) at Institute of Philosophy, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. During this time, he was a Visiting Scholar at the Harvard-Yenching Institute (1999-2000); guest professor at Seoul National University (2002-2004); Fulbright Research Scholar at the University of Wisconsin (2008-2009); and Fellow at the Internationales Kolleg Morphomata, University of Cologne (2010-2011).  He has published several books including Guodian Bamboo Texts and Learning and Thought in the Pre-Qin Period郭店竹簡與先秦學術思想, The Way of China and the Reconstruction of Confucianism中國之路與儒學重建, Collated and Annotated Version of the Collection of Confucian Sayings孔子集語校注, The Completed Sayings of Confucius子曰全集.
