Liu Yang is a Ph.D. candidate in the Graduate School of Business Sciences, Humanities and Social Sciences at the University of Tsukuba, Japan. She received her B.A. in Japanese Language and Literature from East China Normal University and M.A. in the Graduate Program of International and Advanced Japanese Studies from the University of Tsukuba. Her research interests include linguistic ideologies, media discourses and pragmatically produced identities (キャラクタ). In her dissertation, she will be studying on how fictional characters are produced by and connected to their performers through the act of voicing.
