Professor Luo is an expert in Chinese medieval history. He is an associate professor at Peking University, Department of History. Both his M.A. and Ph.D. were received from Peking University in the field of Chinese History. Much of his research has been focused on how dynasties founded by minorities have shaped Chinese history. His study at Harvard-Yenching Institute considered the interrelation between Chinese history and nomadic tribes of North Asia.
