Moon Yumi was a Visiting Fellow at the Harvard-Yenching Institute from 1998-1999, and a HYI Harvard Doctoral Scholar from 1999-2002. She received her B.A. and M.A. from Seoul National University, and her Ph.D. in History and East Asian Language from Harvard University. Her dissertation looked at the last phase of Korean reformist movements and the Japanese colonization of Korea between 1896 and 1910.
