Song Jae-young received her B.A. with a thesis on how the Korean word formation system is represented in Korean dictionaries. Currently, as a Ph.D. candidate at Yonsei University, her research focuses on the Korean pronoun system in both the modern and contemporary periods. She has published several articles including “A study on Establishing the Range of Korean Substitution: Focusing on the Defective Noun,” “A contrastive study on demonstratives in English and Korean,” and “The Deictic and Anaphoric Usage of Demonstratives in Korean.” Her research focuses on demonstratives, substitution, and anaphor, and her PhD dissertation is an extension of these studies. She is currently expanding her interests into the area of anthropological linguistics as it relates to her study of the pronoun.
