Wei Ran is an Associate Professor in the Institute of Foreign Literature, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. He received a PhD. in Comparative Literature at Peking University. His recent research explores cross-cultural exchanges between Latin America and China during the Cultural Cold War, and Hispanic literature in Asia. He is translator of Walter D. Mignolo’s The Darker Side of the Renaissance: Literacy, Territoriality, & Colonization and García Márquez’ s Chronicle of a Death Foretold. He is co-editor of the translation series on “Latin American Social and Humanistic Thinking” for Shanghai People’s Publishing House. He was a visiting scholar at the Latin American Council of Social Sciences (CLACSO), Argentina, 2016, and Duke University, 2010-2011. At the Harvard-Yenching Institute, he will conduct a project that examines Hispanic-Filipino Literature between Spanish colonization and U.S. occupation.
