Mun Suk Ahn is an Associate Professor in the Dept. of Political Science and Diplomacy at Chonbuk National University, South Korea. He received his B.A. from Seoul National University, M.A. from York University and Ph.D. from Warwick University in the U.K. His main interests are North Korean politics, foreign policy of North & South Korea and international relations in Northeast Asia. His current research is on Moo Chung, who was a famous independence activist in the Japanese colonial era, a strong rival to Kim Il-sung, and was purged by the Kim Il-sung faction. His project at HYI is to explore the people’s roles in the political and social upheavals in North Korea in the 1940s.
