Dr. Bai Bin is professor of Chinese archaeology in the Department of Archaeology, Sichuan University. In recent years he has been in charge of excavations of more than 10 sites or cemeteries in Sichuan, Chongqing, Guizhou, and Henan including the sites of Jinsha, Lijiaba, Mingyueba, Pojiao, Xuetangbei and Waguantan, and Dasima Cemetery. His research interests include the archaeology of Daoism, and Chinese archaeology between the Han and Ming dynasties. He has published two books and nearly 40 papers, including Zhongguo daojiao kaogu (coauthored, 6 volumes, Beijing: xianzhuang shuju,2006) and Chuanda shixue Feng Hanji juan (coauthored, 2 volumes, Chengdu: Sichuan daxue chubanshe, 2006). He is currently working on Taoist inscription materials in Sichuan, Taoist and Buddhist-Daoist cliff sculptures in Sichuan, and Shuilu paintings of Ming and Qing dynasties.
