Chong-Fuk Lau is a Professor of Philosophy at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. He received his B.Eng. in Information Engineering (1995) and M.Phil. in Philosophy (1997) from the Chinese University of Hong Kong and Ph.D. in Philosophy (2002) from Heidelberg University, Germany. After obtaining his Ph.D., he was awarded a research fellowship (2003-2004) by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation and taught briefly at the Institute of Philosophy, Darmstadt University of Technology, Germany. His research interests include classical German philosophy, metaphysics, philosophy of mind, and philosophy of religion. For the academic year 2017-18, he will be devoted to an interdisciplinary project titled “Kantian Functionalism: A Study of its Cognitive-Scientific and Cultural-Linguistic Implications,” and will first stay at the Harvard-Yenching Institute for eight months, before visiting the Department of Philosophy of Columbia University in New York City as a Fulbright Scholar for five more months.
