Sanghoun Lee is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Asian History at Seoul National University, Korea. He received his B.A. (2009) and M.A. (2012) from Seoul National University. He was a junior visiting scholar in the Institute of History and Philology of Academia Sinica for the first half of 2017. His research interests include the financial and economic history of late imperial China. At the Harvard-Yenching Institute, he will examine the effect of the general surge in silver prices on Chinese society in the early 19th century and subsequent changes.
