Maumita Banerjee is expected to receive her Ph.D. in September 2019 from the Department of Political Science at Waseda University, Japan. Her research focusses on the socio-political history of modern India and Japan through the lens of clothing. She is interested in theories of nationalism and visual culture. She will be a visiting fellow at the Harvard-Yenching Institute for the academic year 2019-2020. During her stay, Maumita plans to continue her research and strengthen her interdisciplinary approach to study and to write comparative history.
