Dr. Meng Huiying is a professor at the Institute of Ethnology and Anthropology, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.  Her teaching areas include shamanism, anthropology of religion and folklore, and her present research projects include “Shamanism of the World” and “The Indigenous Religions and Cultures of China”.  She has published eleven books and over 120 papers, including Shamanism in the Northern Nationalities of China, A Study of the Manchu Shaman’s Handbooks and Shamanism in the Yi nationality.
