Shargan Wangdue was born in the Shigatse prefecture of the Tibet Autonomous Region. He received his Bachelor’s degree in museumology and archaeology from Sichuan University, and from 1997 to 2011 worked in the Tibet Autonomous Region Museum. In 2008 he received his master’s degree in Tibetan history from Tibet University.  Since 2011 he has worked at the Tibet Autonomous Region Institute for Research and Preservation of Cultural Heritage. He has published several dozen articles about Tibetan archaeology, history, ancient architecture, and folk culture. His writing has also been featured in several books on archaeology reports and atlases of cultural relics.
